Job Description
Our Client is a very established consultancy with a successful track record in performance in environmental field. With over 500 employees in eleven offices this is a growing company that requires a commercial manager to join their team and to contribute towards their growth.
The Commercial Manager will complement the existing team by bringing both commercial and technical expertise to the team. The role will involve developing new opportunities, servicing current and future clients and further building the excellent track record already in place.
Focusing specifically on the waste market, the purpose of this role is to proactively develop and expand new business opportunities and our clients presence within the market.
Key projects/clients:
Some of the key projects/clients are a wide range of local authority, Defra and commercial clients: Waste Data Flow, regional market development studies and waste survey work leading to Waste Strategies and WRAP projects.
Responsibilities:
- TECHNICAL: Provide technical expertise in the area of waste. Carry out assessments of data and prepare/review technical reports.
- PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Lead and manage a range of waste projects including managing project teams.
- CLIENT CARE: Service existing clients including assisting in ensuring quality of service and client satisfaction.
- COMMERCIAL: Proactively develop, grow and deliver work in the waste market. Support established team members in a range of projects, providing commercial, technical and research support. Ensure that the regional profile and the services within are appropriately positioned in the waste market and that new areas of business are constantly sought and developed.
- TEAM WORKING: Act as a mentor to more junior staff. Secure work on behalf of the team.
Skills and Experiences required:
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline with evidence of numeracy
- Membership of either CIWM or CIWEM would be an advantage.
- Relevant commercial experience gained either within a consultancy, Local Authority or waste management business. This includes experience gained in waste strategy, commercial or municipal waste arisings and management, recycling and re-use activities.
- Enthusiasm for bidding for and winning work is essential as is a track record on business development.
- High level of commercial acumen, with an ability to deliver sales targets
- A sound technical background and knowledge of the UK waste industry, its regulators and Government policy drivers is a pre-requisite.
- The ability to manipulate data and use excel are important.
- A full driving licence.
