The Role
My client currently has a vacancy for a Principal Waste Planner to join their Natural & Built Environment Team in the Waste Management arena. The principal responsibility of the role will be to;
• Lead the development of the planning and related environmental services in the waste sector.
• This will include project direction and management, preparation of estimates and proposals, management and development of staff, client account management and new business development.
• Projects could include, development of planning strategy, site selection, planning input to design, preparation of planning applications, EIAs, public consultation, planning appeals and Public Inquiries for a range of waste related projects.
• Be flexible enough to assist the Planning and EIA group with applications and licensing of other utility facilities and construction projects.
• Be required to supervise and mentor less experienced staff and be responsible for the technical quality of project.
The Candidate
To be successful you will:
• Need a degree (or equivalent) in a subject of relevance to MWH UK business preferably: Town and Country Planning, MRTPI.
• A Postgraduate degree in relevant subject or equivalent professional qualification is also desirable
• Be able to demonstrate a strong technical background and wide experience, excellent knowledge of UK planning regulation in this area and an ability to manage the commercial and contractual risks associated with this kind of work.
• You will need experience in development planning of which some should be in a consultancy environment.
• Experience in waste planning strategy, site selection, planning applications and EIAs for waste handling, treatment and disposal facilities.
• Experience in planning and preparation of proposals for professional services and prepared to write proposals personally or to plan and lead teams writing proposals. Experience in preparation and delivery of presentations is essential.
• Experience in client account management and new business development within a planning and/or environmental consultancy environment.
