Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Our client has an excellent opportunity available; they require a senior geotechnical engineer to lead a small geoenvironmental team. Project work will be over a number of client sectors (rail, highways, water, land regeneration etc.)

The successful candidate will:

• Lead the geotechnical aspects of projects; assist existing staff with a view to building the geotechnical team under their leadership
• Be expected to interface with clients, seek new opportunities and obtain new work leading to opportunities locally, nationally and overseas
• Have a high degree of autonomy to undertake their project work as they see fit with respect to clients’ expectations
• Visit sites, arrange investigations, attend meetings, undertake and direct design, and produce reports accordingly

Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree in relevant technical subject (Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Engineering Geology)
• An applicable post graduate degree (MSc, MEnvSci) or a
Chartered Status would be preferable
• Postgraduate experience (preferably in Design Consultancy) including supervising aspects of geotechnical projects

• Experience of managing specialist sub-consultants and
project management
• Experience in the use & implementation of quality assurance systems
• Experience in considering commercial matters in the conduct of duties
• Knowledge of geotechnical analysis software (gInt, Oasys, Slide, Slope/W, WALLAP, PLAXIS)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A high level of critical thinking and engineering judgment
• Self motivated
• Ability to mentor junior staff and possess influencing and delegation skills
• Ability to build rapport with work colleagues and demonstrated team player
